How To Kick Off Your Walt Disney World Vacation

By Courtney Agnello

Planning a Walt Disney World vacation can take a ton of time and effort. So, when the day comes for you to arrive in the Happiest Place on Earth, follow these suggestions to set the tone of your cherished Walt Disney World vacation. Having fun on your arrival day can set the mood for the rest of the trip.

Got a few extra days? Try spending your first day at your resort. After hours in the car or on a plane, you need some down time and while the temptation is to go straight to theme parks, consider taking a day to recover from traveling. Traveling can really drain you, and failing to get enough rest may damage the rest of your trip as you try to catch up on sleep.

Your Walt Disney World resort has everything from a relaxing pool, grounds to explore, and may even have some activities that day. Some of the resorts provide arts and crafts as well as plenty of shopping opportunities. Whatever you choose to do, be sure to rest up for the rest of your trip.

If you are planning to stay just a few days, getting right into a park is probably on your agenda. But there's no need to rush through the whole park in one day! Try a more laid-back approach: pick one headliner attraction you really want to experience and grab a FASTPASS for it as soon as you arrive.

Then stop and smell the roses while you wait for the return time - watch the zany Streetmosphere performers in Disney's Hollywood Studios or get a dazzling hairstyle with colored gel and "Mickey Dust" at the Harmony Barbershop in the Magic Kingdom Park. Eat a Mickey Bar and watch the spectacular fountains in Epcot or wander around the trunk of the Tree of Life in Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Be open to just letting the magic happen!

Top off your first Disney day with something that provides true Disney magic. Maybe take in a nighttime spectacular, or have dinner with Mickey Mouse at Chef Mickey's. It's an eating experience put on by the Big Cheese, himself, and it's sure to please. For a slower pace at the end of your day, try a relaxing ride on the monorail or maybe try some of the shops in Downtown Disney.

Whatever you decide, know that your magical vacation has just begun and you're going to have a fabulous time! - 29977
