The Sunshine State is a fitting nickname for Florida as the weather is near perfect all year. The average temperature is in the mid 80's during the summer and only drops to the mid 70's in the winter. Florida is also one of the most popular vacation spots in the entire world not only because of the great weather but because the larger than life theme parks and the long stretches of white sand beaches with the surrounding clear blue water are almost irresistible. Many people come to Florida for the great shopping. Miami has it's own style and is a very fashionable city. It is literally a melting pot of many cultures. And of course, you can't come to Florida without visiting Orlando, birthplace of Mickey Mouse. Orlando is often referred to as "America's theme capital" because it is overflowing with theme parks, shopping malls, late-night bars, restaurants and even family catered entertainment.

Vacationing in Florida takes a good two weeks because the Sunshine state has so much to offer and because it is a large state. You will need time to travel from the panhandle to Key West and many of the other cities. One week is simply too short a time to experience all of the activities and sites you will feel you just can't miss.

If you want to avoid some of the crowds Florida vacations for the cooler seasons are available. Vacationing in the cooler season often means you get better service and may even get a great deal because the hotels aren't booked completely.
