Florida Vacations at the Beach

By Gail Nettles

A Florida beach vacation is an excellent way to loosen up and have fun.

Florida is home to some of the finest tropical beaches the world over, and the standards of excellence set by the tropical shores are the envy of the travel world.

After a day at the beach itself, you'll want to eat -- and the fresh foods are a gastronomic delight! Local produce is served all over and there is a dish to suit all tastes.

Surfing, diving, swimming and shopping til you drop are options, but if it is the tropical beaches that you long to enjoy, then here are 3 Florida beach vacation destinations that you shouldn't miss.

Daytona Beach needs no introduction and is said to be 'the world's most famous beach'. The distance across of the beach itself and the hard packed sand is a sight to bring amazement. But Daytona offers more than just beach, the Museum of Arts and Sciences is a wonderful place to spend some time, followed by Volusia Mall or the Ocean Walk Shops for a little retail therapy.

Ft Lauderdale Beach: If you only go to this vacation destination to see the award winning wavewall and the promenade, you will not have wasted your time. The wavewall itself goes for an amazing two miles along the main part of the beach and is one of the signatures of the area. If you would like to take a walk and do some people-watching, the promenade is the place to do it.

My own preference is definitely Clearwater Beach. This might have something to do with the yummy stone crab claws served at Frenchy's restaurant. But dinner aside, the ocean is some of the warmest and most calming I have ever swum in. Nope, there's no such thing as a quick dip here -- the sand and sea won't let you go. You also won't want to miss the sunset festivity at the pier!

The world offers a lot of destinations, but once you've been on a Florida beach vacation, you'll want to come back again and again.

See you at the beach!
